Producer Choice

Lord Birt

A key chapter of my dissertation was on the Producer Choice policy of the then Director-General, which was in-turn a response to the new legislation, which forced the BBC to buy programming from the private sector. A planned interview with Lord Birt on his policy and his responses to the data that I had collected had been arranged but sadly did not go ahead for technical reasons. I do hope this interview will still happen at a future time so that I may ask him about the many points raised from the data in the questionnaires. A written contribution from Lord Grade was also obtained for my research.
